An annual April experiment in creating a Fake Journal~ FAKE: pretend, simulate; counterfeit; to alter.manipulate.
or treat as to impart a false character or appearance.

A fun exercise in pretending to be someone else, maybe in an alternate universe!

Fake Journal 2019

April is fast approaching...
the month where I try to 'fake you out'
about who I am and what my
occupation is.  Pretending to be
someone else, living in that other
person's head and viewing things
from a different perspective.

I haven't even decided for sure what
I'm doing this year, but I'm gonna give it
another try.  I'm sorry to say that Roz
Stendahl will not be coordinating the
project this year, but anyone who wants to
give it a go is certainly welcome to do so.
Roz's blog posts are still available, so
click on the links in my sidebar for more
information. Also here:

You're on your own, and that's
not necessarily a bad thing. Roz always
encouraged us to make it our own.
It's a fascinating concept, to try to think,
react and draw like someone else!

As usual, I will not tell you who my
character is or what they do for a living, so
you get the chance to guess who "I" am.
I plan to use random phrases and captions
as I have in past years...which may throw
you off the trail! ...and hopefully add
a bit of humor.  Check back in April
to see what the Fake Me
gets up to!

The public celebration of International Fake Journal
Month has been suspended indefinitely, but
certainly it's a project worth trying as
individual artitsts.

Here's to year number eight (!) of
the Fake
Journal project!

FAKE JOURNAL 2017~ Details Matter

Yes, that's bread...

Again this year, I invite you to guess who/what
my character is.  I may offer hints as the
time goes by, or maybe not. The images
are the main clues. I'm not planning on
creating a 'story,' but we'll see what happens.
As in the past, I will probably post once
a week, perhaps more. Not every day.

Days one and two, the adventure begins...

Details matter.

I enjoy your comments very much...please
feel free to leave your ideas, critiques,
and guesses about my character!

blog, authored by Roz Stendahl, to
read more about the Fake Journal Project.

Life is short. Why live only one?!

IFJM 2017~ Details Matter Every Day

If you've ever wished that you could
get into the habit of drawing every day,
creating a Fake Journal might be for you!
Every year Roz Stendahl has been inviting
us...challenging us to join her in
creating a fake journal. Her official International
Fake Journal Month blog explains the
project, and gives helpful suggestions
 for how to proceed.

You don't have to write a story.
Thank goodness. That's not my strong point!
There's also a private Facebook page, where
you can choose to share your images.
You can create a blog for your Fake journal,
or share it on your existing blog, or you can even
choose not to post your work online at all.
It's up to you.

Come up with an idea of a 'character' that
you could 'pretend' to be, just during the time
that you're drawing (or painting or collaging)
in your Fake Journal. Keep it simple in concept
so you won't be overwhelmed. Make it doable
so you can get your page done each day in
less than an hour.  Last year, I was a
person who collects toys, and I drew a
different toy each day. That's it!

It's a fun project. And it really helps get
you in the habit of drawing each day.

DETAILS MATTER.
Notice. Record. Draw. Paint. Listen.
Write it down. Observe. Create.
Have fun!
IFJM starts in April. Just 30 days.
You could do this...
