An annual April experiment in creating a Fake Journal~ FAKE: pretend, simulate; counterfeit; to alter.manipulate.
or treat as to impart a false character or appearance.

A fun exercise in pretending to be someone else, maybe in an alternate universe!

Big Idea

I can hear Donald Duck's garbled voice saying, "Hey, what's the big idea?!"

Creatures

First, a creature given to me that I think was made in Mexico...it has a bobble head.  I am not sure what it's supposed to be... And then an alien toy, probably a cartoon character.

I missed a day on the 28th. No disaster occurred. I was just busy and forgot!  So I did two drawings on the 29th.

Plastic Culture

There's a wide variety of toys in the collection. A truly dedicated collector would probably focus on a few special areas of interest. There are a lot of fast food restaurant kid's meal toys...

The alligator is over 50 years old. My paternal grandparents brought it to me from their Florida trip. True story.

Don't Neglect Your Toys

Last year my character worked in an antique store. This year, one step aside, my character is one of the customers who might frequent that store. My Fake Journal character for 2016 is a toy collector.

Toy collectors don't necessarily have to collect toys that are old. Cartoon and TV show characters are popular. Comic book and super hero collectors are especially devoted.

I am just drawing what is in the toy box.  I can't believe we are in the last week of April already!

The Girl and the Alien

Those blue eyes are creepy.

Amazing muscles...

These little chairs are
so ingenious...

but I can't help but be
reminded of a toilet,
with the shape required
to fit in the little person.

Truth Be Told...

"Truth be told,
I'm lyin'..."
Song lyrics heard on the radio.

The phrases in my journal
are pretty random

but the images are not.
Well, not completely.

They are "One step aside"
from last year's character:
"Shift in Place."

I'm not an antique dealer, as
I was last year.

And as someone suggested in a
comment, I am not a young lady
deciding what to dispose of.  My
character is female, however.

Of course, I am trying to keep my
character a mystery for as long as
possible...

Tom E. and Violet

I just love his little baby butt...

Hand-made, about 30 years old.
Chain-stitched spirals for
pink cheeks.

Shift in Place.
