If you've ever wished that you could
get into the habit of drawing every day,
creating a Fake Journal might be for you!
Every year Roz Stendahl has been inviting
us...challenging us to join her in
creating a fake journal. Her official International
Fake Journal Month blog explains the
project, and gives helpful suggestions
for how to proceed.
You don't have to write a story.
Thank goodness. That's not my strong point!
You can create a blog for your Fake journal,
or share it on your existing blog, or you can even
choose not to post your work online at all.
It's up to you.
Come up with an idea of a 'character' that
you could 'pretend' to be, just during the time
that you're drawing (or painting or collaging)
in your Fake Journal. Keep it simple in concept
so you won't be overwhelmed. Make it doable
so you can get your page done each day in
less than an hour. Last year, I was a
person who collects toys, and I drew a
different toy each day. That's it!
It's a fun project. And it really helps get
you in the habit of drawing each day.
DETAILS MATTER.
Notice. Record. Draw. Paint. Listen.
Write it down. Observe. Create.
Have fun!
IFJM starts in April. Just 30 days.
